Quit Playing Games: Fix Yourself to Start Finding Love

A man that needs to quit playing games.

Quit playing games—literally! It’s fun and helps you destress, but is it really a good thing if it hinders you from finding love?

Are you still living in your parent’s basement and complaining that you can’t find love?

Are you willing to settle with your life-sized anime pillow?

Quit playing games and get a real girlfriend.

It’s sad to see that many men are still acting like children.

Playing games can be fun from time to time. But do you have to sacrifice the time to meet real women outside just for a couple of hours to stare at your 0.75 kill/death score?

“Intellectuals” among the male gaming community might argue this is a killjoy opinion. Why point out their video game addiction? And that’s fine—like most people with problems, they usually deflect.

Understandably, gaming can help you cope with stress. However, you shouldn’t let it get to a point where it consumes you.

This article isn’t to attack but to help. Let this be a wake-up call that not everything the blue LED light touches can be good.

Acknowledge the addiction

This isn’t to say you should quit playing games entirely. We all need a little break from the real world now and then.

However, your obsessiveness about playing in that cold, dark basement of yours has got to stop. You might think that having such an addiction outside of vices is not a big deal, but it is.

It’s still an addiction. And as addiction goes, it can be difficult to admit and look at the damage it has caused.

And that’s the reason why it’s difficult for you to find love.

Someday, you have to outgrow these childish things. You can’t have one more than the other. Though there are women who dig the gamer vibe, they don’t want to be in a relationship with a man-child.

It’s time for a repair

You might think that the best way to get back into the dating game is to divert your focus away from your character or progress for a while. However, that’s just a temporary solution.

Fixing yourself is actually the first step to finding love.

Like running through a dungeon while equipped with a piece of legendary gear with a low durability bar, you just have to make a stop to repair your item to progress deeper into the map. You are that piece of legendary gear; you need a little polish, that’s all.

That said, it’s never too late to get better; you just have to stop certain aspects of your life that are pulling you down.

For instance, years of raging in front of your screen have made you unsociable. You’ve logged out for too long in the relationship game that you don’t know where or how to spawn. Perhaps you can get back up again by relearning how to talk to women in real life.

But having the strength to quit playing games is easier said than done. Sometimes, you just want to lay on your couch and accept being single.

Deep down, that’s not what you want, right?

Pro gamer tip: You don’t have to rush things to fill in that progress bar. Taking things slow and learning along the way is what gamers do best, after all.
